ADELE MYERS AND DANCERS
Adele Myers and Dancers, Inc. (AMD) is a Miami based not-for-profit dance theater company committed to the advancement of female dance artists through process, performance and community engagement all deeply rooted in female empowerment.
AMD features dynamite female athletes of the heart who execute elegant athletics with personal theatricality and a bold sense of humor. For over a decade, AMD has been presented throughout the U.S. from Miami to Seattle to Maine.
Since 2010, the company has received development and touring support for several multi-disciplinary evening-length projects from notable funding organizations including New England Foundation of the Arts for “Theater in the Head” in 2010; National Dance Project for “Einstein’s Happiest Thought” in 2013; and the National Performance Network for “The Dancing Room” in 2015. Since relocating its home base from the northeast to Miami in 2015, AMD has received commissions from the Miami Light Project in 2018 for “Girls!Girls!Girls!" and MDC Live Arts in 2019 for “The Stage Show.”
T.W.I.S.T (These Women In Space and Time) - This foot stomping, heart pounding new work has been created as part of a newly established two-year commissioned company in residence program at South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center. T.W.I.S.T was also made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts' National Dance Project, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
The Pink Parade is one act of the evening-length work-T.W.I.S.T which was recently presented as an excerpt on an AMD mixed bill this September 10-12, 2021 at SMDCAC with three sold-out performances. The Pink Parade was very well-received with audiences requesting on the spot if they could reserve tickets for the April 2022 World Premiere.
With a singular aim to amplify and advance female dance artists, AMD community engagement programs are custom designed for pre-professional and professional movers and makers.
